Pier 21 was the entry point for 1.5 million immigrants, war brides, displaced people, evacuee children and Canadian military personnel from 1928-1971.  The call of the ocean and beauty of the sea will lure you to PEGGY’S COVE for a late afternoon visit, the perfect setting for an INCLUDED MEAL of Fish n’Chips, Nova Scotia-style.  With its lighthouse sitting on a massive granite ledge, this cove is a mecca for artists and photographers alike.  Return to Halifax for overnight.

Halifax to Saint John

(2 nights) “Spread your tiny wings and tour away” while at the ANNE MURRAY CENTRE in Springhill, hometown of Canada’s famous “Snowbird”.  Enter New Brunswick and stop in HOPEWELL CAPE, location of the highest tides in the world.  View the Flower Pot Rocks carved by the Fundy tides.  These peculiar formations are forested islands at high tide and resemble flowerpots at low tide.  Journey through the scenic FUNDY NATIONAL PARK and continue to Canada’s historic Loyalist City, Saint John for two nights. Charlottetown to Baddeck

Leaving Canada’s smallest ‘red-soiled’ province, travel to Wood Islands and board the FERRY to Caribou on the Nova Scotia mainland.  After crossing the deepest causeway in the world, the Strait of Canso, arrive on Cape Breton Island.  Continue to the resort town of Baddeck, nestled along the shores of the Bras d’Or Lake. Visit the ALEXANDER GRAHAM BELL MUSEUM to explore a collection of exhibits dedicated to the life and work of this famous inventor, who spent much of his life here. Overnight at the historic Telegraph House. This iconic building built in 1861, still owned and operated by the fifth generation Dunlop family, once housed the office from which the first telegraph messages were sent, giving it its name. Savour a taste of Nova Scotia tonight at an INCLUDED DINNER.

Situated on one of Cape Breton`s most picturesque coasts, start your day with an underground excursion beneath the Cape Breton MINERS MUSEUM. Guided by a retired coal miner of the Ocean Deeps Colliery this is also home to the famous choir of miners – The Men of the Deeps. After lunch step back in time to the year 1744 and experience the French FORTRESS OF LOUISBOURG. This National Historic Site is one of the largest reconstructions in North America.

Port Aux Basques to Gros Morne to Deer Lake

Continue to Gander. Known not only as an important refueling stop for military aircraft crossing the Atlantic during World War II, Gander is the town that inspired the now-renowned musical ‘Come From Away’. Clarenville to St. John’s

(2 nights) Continue on the Trans-Canada Highway and travel east to the Avalon Peninsula.  Drive through Heart’s Delight and Heart’s Desire to the small town of Heart’s Content.  Visit the Heart’s Content CABLE STATION PROVINCIAL HISTORIC SITE, where the first transatlantic cable was landed in 1866.  Then travel through the villages of Carbonear and Harbour Grace to St. John’s, the provincial capital, for a two-night stay.  Accommodation: Hilton Garden Inn.
