Journey across the varied landscapes of southern Alberta, filled with geological wonders, unique historical sites, and modern communities, ranches and farms.

Follow the Cowboy Trail into ranch country and onward to where the prairies meet the mountains in Waterton Lakes National Park. The southern circle route transports you from Lethbridge to Medicine Hat to the Canadian Badlands and back to Calgary and Edmonton. All breakfasts included.

Edmonton to Red Deer to Calgary

Tuesday.  Your Alberta Circle South adventure begins as you are welcomed aboard your deluxe coach in Edmonton.  Travel south via Red Deer to Calgary meeting additional travelling companions enroute.  Take a step back in time with a visit to HERITAGE PARK HISTORICAL VILLAGE, Canada’s largest living history museum.  Explore interactive exhibits that span four eras of Western Canadian history. Ride on a streetcar, the steam train, a replica paddle steamboat or antique amusement park rides.  Spend the night in Calgary.  Passengers from the area who do not need a room may call our office to request a discount.

Calgary to Pincher Creek

Wednesday.  Sit back and enjoy the scenic drive along the Cowboy Trail (Hwy. 22), rolling through the southern Alberta foothills with the Rocky Mountains to the west and prairies to the east. View the OKOTOKS ERRATIC and marvel at the enormous boulder carried there by glacial ice more than 10,000 years ago. After an included PICNIC LUNCH, ride into history at the BAR U RANCH NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE, which commemorates the importance of ranching in Canada.  Stop at Lundbreck Falls, the largest waterfall on the Crowsnest River, on your way to Pincher Creek.  Join your fellow travellers this evening for a GET ACQUAINTED WELCOME DINNER.

Pincher Creek to Waterton Park to Lethbridge

(2 nights) Thursday.  Your day begins with the impressive drive to WATERTON LAKES NATIONAL PARK.  Admire panoramic views of Upper Waterton Lake from the Prince of Wales Hotel.  Cruise past incredible scenery on a Waterton Lake Boat Tour.  After lunch in the charming townsite, carry on to Cardston to visit the Remington Carriage Museum, which tells the story of horse-drawn modes of transportation in North America.  Continue to Lethbridge for a two-night stay.

Lethbridge and Area

Friday.  The first stop today will be the Fort Museum of the North-West Mounted Police in the town of Fort Macleod.  Follow the Crowsnest Highway across the dry prairie landscape to Head‑Smashed‑In Buffalo Jump World Heritage Site, with time to experience the interpretive centre and viewpoint.  After lunch return to Lethbridge and visit Fort Whoop‑Up, a replica of an original 1800’s fur trading fort.  Conclude your day with a tranquil stroll at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden.  After a history-filled day, return to your Lethbridge hotel for the evening.

Lethbridge to Medicine Hat

Saturday.  Today we visit a FAMILY OPERATED FARM near Taber that specializes in irrigated row crops, with a focus on producing high-quality potatoes for the French fry industry. Savour a farm-to-table included lunch.  Continue to Medicine Hat, home to the tallest teepee in the world.

Medicine Hat to Drumheller

SundayAfter breakfast, rewind time on a GUIDED TOUR of MEDALTA POTTERY in Medicine Hat’s Historic Clay District.  Appreciate the skillful craft of bygone industrial workers in the innovative museum and see the modern ceramic arts facility and art gallery.  On your way to Drumheller, watch the flat prairie change to the interesting rock formations of the Badlands.  Make a stop at THE HOODOOS for photos with the towering sandstone formations.  Tonight, share favourite memories with your companions at a HOSTED FAREWELL DINNER.

Drumheller to Calgary to Edmonton

Monday.  This morning, take a 3.9‑billion‑year journey through time at the ROYAL TYRRELL MUSEUM, Canada’s only museum dedicated exclusively to the science of palaeontology.  With fond memories of your Alberta Circle South adventure, return to Calgary and conclude your tour in Edmonton.
